MPC was opposition’s tactic to get NRO, says minister

TAXILA: Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said there is no harm in political leaders’ meeting with heads of different institutions as being on one page is in the best interest of the country and democracy.

He was talking to newsmen after inaugurating different development projects worth Rs204 million in the union council of Usman Khattar on Saturday.

Member National Assembly Mansoor Hayat Khan and Member Punjab Assembly Ammar Sadeeq Khan were also present.

Mr Khan termed the recent multiparty conference (MPC) a political tactic of the opposition to press the government to get a national reconciliation ordinance (NRO). He said the PTI government was in no mood to grant them any concession or strike a deal with them.

He said the government had given a loud and clear message to the opposition parties that the accountability process would continue at all costs no matter how many MPCs they hold.

He said the recent MPC was fifth of its nature in a short span of two years but it failed to yield results.

He claimed that the PML-N was never on the same page with state intuitions.

The minister said the government had launched historic programmes for public welfare. Poor-friendly initiatives such as Ehsaas Programme and Kamyab Jawan Programme are aimed at the uplift of underprivileged sections of society.

He said the PTI government believed in devolution of power; therefore, local government elections will be held definitely.

Earlier, addressing a public gathering, the minister said the PTI government was committed to serving the public and fulfilling all the commitments it made during the general elections 2018.

“The PTI’s journey to fulfil the promises is continuing in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he said, adding provision of all basic facilities to the citizens was the priority of PTI government.

He said the government was making all-out efforts to improve the country’s image abroad.

“All corrupt elements, even if they come together, cannot inflict any harm on the PTI.”
