More rain predicted in next few days
RAWALPINDI: Light rain accompanied by chilly winds lashed the twin cities on Friday afternoon, making the weather pleasant. The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain during the next three to four days.
The day began with a warm and sunny aura, however, clouds overpowered the sun in the afternoon, turning the landscape grey. The rain started after 2pm andcontinued for some time; people were caught off guard, especially those travelling on motorcycles or standing at bus stands.
The Met office reported 3 millimetres of rain at Zero Point and Saidpur, 2mm at Golra and Bokra in Islamabad, and terraces in Rawalpindi respectively. A western disturbance is likely to enter upper parts of the country from today and is likely to prevail till Wednesday (Sept 30). Rain and wind thunderstorms are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Kasur with occasional gaps.
Dust-thunderstorms are also expected in Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Bahawalpur from Sunday till Tuesday. This weather will subside the otherwise prevailing hot weather in upper and central parts of the country.
Meanwhile, a Wasa official said that water level in Leh Nullah remained at 6 feet in Kattarian and 4ft in Gawalmandi. He said the department was draining out water from main roads and removing obstacles so rain water could flow smoothly.
