SSGC affairs

AFTER the recent rains in Karachi, the supply of gas to my home situated in DHA phase V, Karachi, was suspended on Aug 30. I lodged a complaint (number 2300218555, consumer number 2305430000) on Aug 31 with the SSGC helpline 1199.

Since then, I have been following up every day for the resolution of the complaint, but it has fallen on deaf ears. The staff at this so-called ‘service centre’ did nothing except informing me that the complaint had been forwarded to the department concerned, which seems to be in deep slumber so far.

On my repeated follow-up and insistence, the staff of the service centre gave me the cell number of the in-charge of the department responsible for handling the complaint. I called this cell number many times but the gentleman did not have the courtesy to answer my calls.

Owing to the apathy on the part of SSGC, I and my family continue to suffer without gas supply. It is evident from the above that the state of affairs at SSGC is far from satisfactory.

I urge the government regulators to take notice of this situation as they have done in the case of K-Electric to provide relief to consumers. It is imperative that some heads need to roll at SSGC as well in order to restore the organisation’s past glory.
