‘Shahbaz being tried over anonymous application’

LAHORE: PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to stop hiding behind anonymous applications like “cowards” to persecute Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, she said the application against which Shahbaz was being tried in court had been filed by a so-called “anonymous educated patriotic Pakistani” who did not have a name.

“This is the most shallow, cowardly and shameful extent Imran Khan has stooped to for his vengeance and prejudice against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. These applications have been filed by Imran [himself] or one of his stooges,” she alleged.

She said the NAB chairman acted like an SHO or a hit man of Imran Khan, issuing notices to and persecuting any opposition leader he was told by his master.

“The NAB is blind to the corruption of billions in sugar, wheat, flour, medicine, petrol, [Peshawar] metro bus and the money laundered through 23 illegal benami accounts,” she alleged.

She said: “Those who made Pakistan a nuclear power, built mega projects, 15,000km of motorways, 13,000 megawatts of electricity projects, hundreds of schools and hospitals, laboratories, matchless transport systems, metro buses and train, connected federating units, saved billions of rupees for Pakistan, made Pakistan one of the fastest growing economies of South Asia, boosted employment, businesses, industry and bottled the djinn of inflation, are being dragged through courts in fictitious cases.”

She said the “selected” who robbed the public mandate, public sugar, public wheat, public medicine, sold Pakistan’s interest and was part of a conspiracy against the country, had been an absconder for six years in 23 benami illegal foreign funding accounts.

The “Imran-led mafia” said the APC and Nawaz’s speech were inconsequential, yet all ministers, spokespersons and Imran himself had been fuming over it, she wondered.
