LONDON: Gaekwar of Baroda and glamorous Hollywood film star Carmen Miranda featured in a 500 guinea drama at Newmarket racehorse sales today [Sept 14]. Both had set their hearts on the glossy charm and racing potentialities of a yearling colt by Fairway out of Epona. Gaekwar, who spent £17,000 in Newmarket on Tuesday, was determined. So, through her proxy bidder Mr. M. Miller, was Carmen, who is accustomed to getting her own way. It was a tense and obviously colourful interlude. …
