Dengue cases detected in Bisham

SHANGLA: As many as nine dengue cases have been detected in Bisham tehsil of Shangla district.

Sources in the health department, Shangla, told this correspondent that these were the first cases of the season reported in the area. They said the nine cases were reported in Maira, Butyal and Shang union councils.

The sources said that preventive measures were launched and lady health workers and other staff had been engaged in the campaign for identification of larva sites inside houses in the tehsil.

The health officials called upon the people to cover water tanks and use mosquito repellents before going to bed to avoid mosquito bite.

FUNDS FOR COLLEGE: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs100 million for reconstruction of government degree college, Chakesar, said former NA-10 candidate Nawaz Mahmood on Wednesday while talking mediapersons in Bisham. He said that reconstruction of the college would be started soon as it was declared vulnerable after 2005 earthquake.

ROADS CLEARED: The district administration has cleared most of the roads in the district to traffic. They were blocked in the recent rains and floods.

Deputy commissioner Imran Hussain Ranjha said that Bisham-Swat, Alpuri-Puran, Karora-Chakesar, Dandai-Chakesar, Shahpur-Damorai and several link roads had been cleared and opened to traffic.

He said that water supply schemes had also been restored in many areas.
