Here's how foodpanda HQ is rewarding riders who helped people amid urban flooding in Karachi

Ever since the monsoon spell wreaked havoc in Karachi, we've been seeing tons of videos online showing foodpanda riders rescuing people and cars stuck on roads, lending a hand in fixing vehicles that have broken down, and helping distressed people on the streets face the unprecedented struggle the city has landed straight in.

We didn't know our heroes could do so much more than just deliver our favourite meals to our door step.

What's going on?

Pakistan's favourite food delivery service, foodpanda, is known for spreading smiles along with scrumptious meals, crazy discounts and a service that is always looking to improve.

A number of videos of foodpanda's resilient riders have been circulating on social media, and everyone, including the foodpanda HQ, feels now's the right time to appreciate their efforts.

As Karachi faced intense urban flooding during the recent bouts of rain, a group of foodpanda riders from North Karachi area got together to rescue people stuck in rain.

A passerby filmed the sequence through his phone which created quite a buzz online.

While most of us are trying our best to avoid ordering food during this situation, foodpanda riders are busy owning the streets that nobody seems to want to look after.

Celebrating real heroes

In order to appreciate these acts of selflessness, foodpanda held a ceremony at their HQ to present their riders with appreciation gifts, and have them meet the CEO who gave out certificates to thank them for their efforts.

Here's what happened during the ceremony:

Applauding riders for their bravery, foodpanda CEO, Nauman Mirza, said, "As a company all of us as employees hold the collective vision of walking the extra mile to offer all stakeholders the best of our services."
