Arrangements finalised to tackle floods in Rawalpindi: Wasa

RAWALPINDI: The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has finalised arrangements to tackle any flood by desilting and dredging Nullah Leh.

Wasa chairman Raja Tariq Mahmood Murtaza appealed to residents to avoid dumping waste into Nullah Leh.

Earlier, Rescue 1122 conducted a flood preparedness exercise at Rawal Dam to enhance its operational compatibility.

District Emergency Officer Dr Abdul Rehman said Rescue 1122 was fully alert to tackle any flood-like situation. According to chief officer Civil Defence, Talab Hussain, the administration on the directives of the commissioner Rawalpindi had set up a special control room to monitor the flood situation in nullahs.
