Outlaw injured in Swabi encounter arrested

SWABI: A proclaimed offender (PO) was arrested after he was injured in an encounter with the police here early on Thursday.

When contacted, SHO Ajab Durrani, who led the raiding party, said the police raided the residence of the PO, Umer Rehman, at Marghuz village early in the morning. He said as the outlaw saw the police party he started indiscriminate firing on them in a bid to escape.

He said that the police retaliated the firing during which the PO was injured. Later, he was taken into custody and shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital, Shahmansoor.

DPO Imran Shahid told mediapersons that Umer Rehman was wanted to police in two separate cases. The police allegedly also recovered one Kalashnikov and two magazines from his possession.

Meanwhile, Chota Lahor police arrested two thieves and recovered two stolen motorcycles from them.

KILLED: Two persons were killed in a road accident on Thursday.

They belonged to Bamkhel village and each one was the lone son of his parents.

The incident occurred on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway inChota Lahor area when their car overturned after its tyre burst. The victims were identified as Mohammad Irfan and Shawal Khan.
