CDA working on afforestation plan

BAHAWALPUR: In pursuance of government’s decision, the Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) is drawing an ambitious afforestation target plan in the vast desert.

The object of the plan is to meet the deficiency of the trees to minimise the chances and periods of dry spell in Cholistan in a bid to attract rains for thousands of its inhabitants and their livestock.

CDA Director (administration) Abdul Jabbar told Dawn that to implement government’s policy in respect of the tree plantation campaign, the CDA is preparing a workable scheme and first conduct a soil testing survey ensuring the availability of water to identify the suitable points and places where the plantation of trees is possible. It will help improve the atmosphere of the vast desert.

DOCTORS: The divisional administration has recommended three names of the local doctorsworking on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic here.

This has been claimed by the Bahawalpur PMA.

The PMA Bahawalpur office-bearers had earlier protested against the omission from the list of the health practitioners who have been selected for awards for their services.

According to local PMA officials, the local administration has recommended the names Dr.Rana Muhammad Yousaf, focal person of health department Dr Zakir and Dr Muhammad Azam for these awards.

DIES: PTV artist and noted puppet – show performer Asghar Bahawalpuri died here on Monday night due to heart attack.

He had been very active during previous years by holding puppet shows across the country providing entertainment particularly to the children at various institutions.
