Most activities allowed as normalcy returns

LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says all activities in the province except reopening of educational institutions, marriage halls and holding of big congregations have been restored. Cinema houses, Lahore Museum, hotels and other public places reopened on Monday.

Punjab has been under lockdown since March when the province started witnessing a surge in the Covid-19 cases.

The provincial government on Monday directed all administrative departments and attached organisations to start operating with full staff from today (Tuesday).

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has desired that all offices would observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in terms of social distancing, wearing face masks and use of hand sanitisers to prevent the spread of the Covid-19, a handout said.

The CM said Punjab has reattained the pre-corona position and remained safe from the related losses.

“The routine life has been restored to normal and I pay tributes to those who played their role in overcoming the virus,” he said.

Talking to media persons at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Mr Buzdar said he would not go to the NAB Office with a large number of people. He said he would personally appear before the NAB and present his point of view.

Answering a question, the CM said he had issued directions to the food and industries’ ministers to take steps to bring stability in the prices of flour and sugar.

Mr Buzdar said the PTI government would also launch the safe city projects in Rawalpindi and other cities.
