CM orders inclusion of Holy Prophet’s biography in syllabus

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Friday directed the authorities concerned to include comprehensive chapters related to the biography of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in the curriculum of government schools.

Chairing a meeting of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Mr Khan also directed the officials to complete solarisation of the schools in merged tribal districts on priority basis, according to a statement issued here.

“All the issues regarding the launch of double shifts in the government schools should be resolved immediately and a summary to this effect be presented in the meeting of the provincial cabinet for approval,” he said.

The chief minister was informed that under the solarisation project, 1,200 schools of merged tribal districts would be equipped with solar facility for which Rs1 billion had been allocated, while a total of 537,497 students of the merged districts would be provided with books and stationary for free.

The meeting was told that the revised PC-1 for providing stipends to over 500,000 primary level students of merged districts had been sent to the planning and development department for approval with an approved amount of Rs2.9 billion.

It was stated that for the provision of playing areas in schools of settled districts, 2,650 schools had been targeted of which 900 schools were provided with this facility. Similarly, the provision of play areas to 1985 schools in the tribal districts is also in progress of which 625 schools have been provided with the play areas.
