Mohammad Amir clears Covid-19 test

LAHORE: Paceman Mohammad Amir and masseur Mohammad Imran both are cleared from back to back Covid-19 tests on Thursday and now they are ready to fly to Derbyshire to join the Pakistan cricket team there ahead of the three-Test series against England, scheduled to commence from Aug 5 in Manchester.

Amir, who was not part of the original 29-member Pakistan squad because he preferred to stay with his wife who was expecting their second child, was recalled after another upcoming pacer Haris Rauf could not clear the Covid-19 test.

Head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq contacted Amir last Sunday and after having his consent for the tour, the PCB started the process and conducted his first test on Monday and second on Wednesday, both of which were negative.

Amir is mainly required for the three T20 matches which will be played after August 28. However, due to Covid-19 situation any player from the 29-member team could be selected for both Test and T20 games.
