BERLIN: Prime Minister Churchill, President Truman and Generalissimo Stalin today [July 16] began their momentous conference at Potsdam, the German “Versailles”, 16 miles south-west of Berlin, cables Reuter’s Special Correspondent. The agenda of the Big Three, which is believed not to be subject to any pre-imposed limitations, is thought to include close scrutiny of the future of Germany, broad outlines of settlement of boundary disputes in Europe, Russia’s place in the Mediterranean and possibly, formulation of a common policy towards General Franco’s Spain.
The announced presence at the discussion of the British Ambassador to Moscow, Sir Archibald Clark-Kerr, suggests that recent Chinese-Russian conversations in Moscow may also be brought in. The belief that reparations may be among the subjects discussed was lent colour yesterday by the departure for Berlin of British and American Representatives on the Allied Reparations Commission. ...
