Mafias more powerful than govt, says Siraj

LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq said on Tuesday the delay in action against sugar barons despite clear directions of the apex court is a proof that mafias are more powerful than the governments in the country.

The JI emir said in a statement issued from Mansoora that the mafias were fearless and fully satisfied knowing these rulers were unable act against them. On the other side, he said, common people were worried and desperate, seeing no betterment in their lives as they were not provided any relief during the past 22 months under the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.

He regretted the rulers were unmoved and had no interest in public welfare.

He said all claims of the PTI, including those of creating millions of jobs and constructing five million houses ended in smoke, regretting that the country’s economy was on the verge of collapse and it became a “colony of the IMF”.

The JI chief said the country could not be put on the path to development without adopting Islamic system in its true spirit. He said the interest-free economy and a strong system of accountability were the need of the hour.

Meanwhile, JI Deputy Emir Liaqat Baloch said the Modi government was involved in worst sort of crimes against humanity in Indai-held Kashmir since Aug 5.

He said India would have to face the consequences of its policies one day and the sacrifices of the Kashmiri youth would certainly bear fruit.

He said the Milli Yakjehti Council would soon organise a Kashmir conference to highlight the Indian atrocities in the Valley.
