Training workshop held on Covid-19 in Khuzdar

KHUZDAR: The World Health Organisation (WHO) arranged a training workshop regarding Covid-19 here on Sunday.

Doctors from Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Surab and Kalat attended the workshop.

Dr Tariq Marri, a senior official of WHO, gave a lecture about measures to prevent the coronavirus pandemic from spreading in Balochistan.

He said: “We’re all affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which is an unprecedented health challenge. Our Clean and Green volunteers and staff have come together to help fight it. After the outbreak of the novel Covid-19 in China in December last year, WHO declared a global health emergency. The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus is increasing day by day in various countries. Pakistan is also under the umbrella of coronavirus emergency along with 155 countries.

Dr Marri said Pakistan had a widespread outbreak of Covid-19 and all people had to restrict their movement and avoid gatherings to prevent the pandemic from spreading further.

“We need to give a coordinated and widespread community response to limit and reduce spread of the disease,” he added.

He said WHO was committed to enabling the communities to cope with this pandemic.

“We have to follow precautionary measures suggested by WHO to stop virus transmission and stop the disease from spreading. Muslim Aid, in collaboration with Unicef and the Ministry of Climate Change under the Clean Green Pakistan movement, has taken an initiative to create awareness among the masses by sharing information to reduce the risk of coronavirus,” he said.

Other speakers also emphasised the need for breaking the chain of coronavirus by avoiding large gatherings.

“We have to wash hands often, cough into elbow, not to touch our face and keep a safe distance,” they said.
