Jinnah’s Pakistan

I INADVERTENTLY made a factual error in reference to Jinnah’s Aug 11, 1947 speech in which the actual words used were: “You may belong to any religion or caste or creed, that has nothing to do with the business of State.” The quote “We shall not be an Islamic state, but a liberal, democratic Muslim state” was not in that speech but said by him on a different occasion.

Another inadvertent error was the rank mentioned about Ayub Khan. He was not a brigadier in 1947.
