100 drug peddlers held
NOWSHERA: The police on Tuesday arrested 100 drug smugglers and recovered 148 kilogrammes of hashish, 15kg opium and 2kg ice from them.
Talking to mediapersons, newly-appointed district police officer Najmul Hassnain said: “The drive against criminals will continue till the district was purged of all of them.”
He said menace of drugs was destroying the young generation, adding drug addicts committed crimes to fulfil their lust for drugs.
Meanwhile, the police arrested a thief and recovered five stolen motorcycles from him.
Also in the day, an Afghan national died due to Covid-19 infection, deputy commissioner Noor Wali Wazir said. He said Maulvi Inayatullah had been admitted to Qazi Medical Complex for treatment.
He said 30 positive cases had been reported during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 820 in the district.
