Polio campaign planned for S. Waziristan

PESHAWAR: Health minister Taimur Salim Jhagra on Monday said all available resources would be utilised to eradicate polio from the society.

He was chairing a meeting on polio eradication, which was attended among others by director general health services Dr Niaz Mohammad and special secretary health Mian Adil.

Briefing the meeting, coordinator KP Emergency Operation Centre Abdul Basit said arrangements were being finalised for a five-day anti-polio campaign that would start from July 20 in South Waziristan.

On the occasion, Mr Jhagra said polio eradication was among topmost responsibilities of the government. He added each and every citizen had to make sincere efforts in that regard. He also directed the operation centre to inform the government about hurdles being faced during the anti-polio campaigns. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of polio workers and said they should be supported and encouraged.
