PFA seals milk collection point

LAYYAH: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a milk collection centre and issued a warning to 12 others after the authorities seized adulterated milk from centres of the district.

PFA South Director Attaul Haque told Dawn adulterated milk caused dental diseases in children and old citizens.

“Those selling substandard food to the citizens are firmly under the radar of the food authority,” he added.

The PFA team inspected 15 centres, issued warning to 12 of them and sealed one collection centre - Al-Rahman on Fatehpur Road near Chowk Azam.

“100 litres of substandard milk was seized and wasted/spilled by the authorities. Expired chemicals were taken into custody and a chiller machine was also sealed.

The food authority issued 8 notices during the visit and imposed fines on the milk collection centres but the owners ignored the directions of the food authority,” Haque said.
