South Punjab police chief meets RPOs

MULTAN: South Punjab Additional Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani presided over a meeting of regional police officers here on Friday and resolved to improve police performance.

Talking to newsmen, he said the provincial government had promised to provide additional force and resources for the south Punjab secretariat.

The office of additional IG has been established in Multan while a sub-office will also be established in Bahawalpur. Three regional police officers, one city police officer and 10 district police officers will be under the office of the additional IG, south Punjab.

He said strict action would be taken against misuse of authority and extra-judicial killings of alleged criminals.

He said that measures to establish women police stations in all districts of south Punjab would be taken while some funds for Multan’s safe city project had also been released.

“The AIG vowed to post station house officers on merit and not on any recommendation. The time to judge my performance has started from today (July 3) and I will try to come up to the expectations of the masses,” he said.

He said an SP-level compliant cell would be made functional at each district while the front desk would not be under the control of station house officers.
