Dr Tahir made KTH hospital director

PESHAWAR: Dr Tahir Nadeem Khan, a senior health management specialist, has been appointed hospital director of Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar.

His appointment was approved by the Board of Governors of Khyber Teaching Hospital/Khyber Medical College and Khyber college of Dentistry, a press release said. A former director-general health services, Dr Tahir Nadeem Khan assumed the charge on Thursday. He was appointed for a period of five years.

Before his new assignments, he held several positions including director general health, director general of Provincial Health Services Academy and managing director of Health Foundation.

A KMC’s graduate in 1984, he did masters in health management, planning and policy in 1996 from Nuffield Institute for Health, University of Leeds United Kingdom.

He has a vast experience in institutional, financial management, expenditure control and accounting systems management, health programmes and project planning, supply chain management, human resource planning, management and development and curricula development, it said.

Dr Tahir, as a national consultant with the WHO in 2019, developed a National Situational Analysis Tool for Pakistan to act as a base for Provincial Health Human Resource (HRH) Strategies Development in four provinces of the country while as a Unicef consultant in 2019, he developed training curricula for in-service training in tribal districts.

He also pioneered the implementation of community-based vaccination and surveillance system by involving about 12,000 lady health workers in 2004 throughout the province in collaboration with WHO, Unicef and expanded programme on immunisation of the health department.

Dr Tahir also conducted performance audit of medical teaching institutions in Mardan, Nowshera and D I Khan for KP Health Care Commission 2017.
