Top officials among 17 involved in illegal land sale

KASUR: The Anti-Corruption Establishment Kasur on Wednesday registered a case against 17 people including former deputy commissioner and an additional deputy commissioner on the allegation of illegal allotment of state commercial land worth over Rs600 million to private persons.

According to complainant Muhammad Azam who is circle officer ACE Kasur, former DC Rana Muhammad Arshad, ADCR Dr Muhammad Mansoor and head clerk Qaisar Najam Shah illegally allotted state land within prohibited zone to 14 private people including Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Fatima, Khursheed Begum, Muhammad Javid and Naseem Maqbool.

The FIR also said the role of other characters including registry clerk Imran Elahi and Sub Registrar Qamar Mahmood Manj would be determined later. It said the documents of the land were registered on fee less than the scheduled rate causing loss of millions of rupees to the exchequer.

According to FIR, the case was lodged after an inquiry report suggested the stark violation of the government policy while granting property rights to private persons. The FIR was lodged under sections including 420, 409, 161, 167 of PPC and section 5(2)47 of Prevention Of Corruption Act-1947.
