48 more die in Punjab from Covid-19

LAHORE: The Covid-19 pandemic claimed 48 more lives in the last 24 hours in Punjab taking the death toll to 938.

According to official figures released on Saturday, 18 of them died in Rawalpinidi, 11 in Lahore, four each in Multan and Rahim Yar Khan while other deaths were reported from Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura and Sialkot.

The total number of coronavirus deaths in Lahore has reached 314, Rawalpindi 200, Faisalabad 86 and Multan 83.

Meanwhile, 2,705 more confirmed cases were reported in Punjab, including 1,342 in Lahore, 260 in Rawalpindi, 237 Faisalabad and 196 in Multan.

The other new cases were reported from Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Attock, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Norowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodhran, Rajanpur and DG Khan, etc.

The total number of confirmed cases of the virus in Lahore has reached to 25,098, 3,911 in Rawalpindi, 3,554 in Faisalabad and 3,479 in Multan.

Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Sialkot districts were the other cities that reported the highest confirmed cases.

Also, MNA Tehmina Durrani confirmed about her getting virus positive.

In Bahawalpur, one death was reported while 87 people tested positive.

In Toba Tek Singh, four employees of the Pirmahal National Database and Registration Authority office tested positive for Covid-19 and a corona patient died in DHQ hospital’s isolation ward.

A coronavirus patient also died in Kasur’s DHQ hospital.

Sialkot saw nine more deaths on Saturday.

Officials said these victims remained under treatment at the Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital, Sialkot, and Corona Field Hospital, Sialkot.

Moreover, the number of virus patients increased to 1,227 from 1,198 with 29 fresh cases.

In Sheikhupura, three people died from virus-related complications at the local DHQ hospital on Saturday.

In Sahiwal, former MNA Rana Zahid Hussain tested positive for coronavirus. Authorities quarantined him in his house located in Gulshan Iqbal Colony.

He is the father of PML-N MNA Rana Iradat Sharif.
