From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1970: Fifty Years Ago: Transfers of top brass

LAHORE: Transfers of high-ranking officers of the West Pakistan Government to the provinces of their domicile have been started from today [June 4] so that the administration in the new provinces begins functioning from July 1, as provided in the dissolution of One Unit order, [agency] learnt here today.

As a first measure in that direction the provisional gradation list of section officers, superintendents and miscellaneous gazetted officers as it stood on Dec 31, 1989, has been published with their places of domicile. These officers have been directed to submit objections, if any, to the competent authorities by June 26, 1970.

The list includes 139 permanent section officers, 49 temporary section officers, and 75 appointed on purely ad hoc basis. Of the total number of 268 section officers mentioned in the list, 152 belong to Punjab, 57 to Sind, 9 to NWFP and 7 to Baluchistan. There are 43 section officers recruited on a West Pakistan basis.

Officers who have either been promoted as deputy secretaries, and/or are on leave preparatory to retirement, are also included in this list.

Similar lists in cases of attached and subordinate departments and other officers of the Government of West Pakistan are also under issue. — Agency
