Twin cities placed on high alert

RAWALPINDI: Police in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been placed on highalert after receiving information about a terrorist attack, police said on Sunday.

A directive issued to police stated that there was “danger” and police deployment should be alerted at all entry points. Henceforth, senior police officials have directed personnel to wear bullet proof jackets, avoid gathering, increase deployment at entry points and keep the doors of their residences closed. All senior police officers were directed to remain vigilant and randomly check security duties – especially in the capital.

Separately, aman was shot during a robbery in Rawaton Saturday night, police said. According to the victim’s wife, she along with her husband was going home on their motorcycle at night when she asked her husband to stop the vehicle, as she was tumbling.

After he stopped, an unidentified man held the couple at gunpoint. The victim, Usman Ahmed was shot and killed after he refused to give up his vehicle.

Shortly after the incident happened, the CPO directed SP Sadar to investigate the incident and arrest the killer.
