PIA left with 30 aircraft after PK-8303 crash

RAWALPINDI: After the crash of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-8303 on May 22, the airlines’ fleet is now left with 30 advanced aircraft to operate on international and domestic routes.

PIA’s Airbus A320, registration number AP-BLD, crashed in a residential area in Karachi, killing 97 passengers on board. Two passengers survived the crash.

The accident happened just seven days after the government permitted PIA to operate limited domestic flights from six airports.

PIA’s fleet currently consists of 11 Airbus A320-200, three ATR 42-500, four ATR72-500, six Boeing 777-200ER, two Boeing 777-200LR, four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for domestic and international flights.

PIA plans to add five more aircraft to its fleet by the end of this year.

Furthermore, the government has extended suspension of international flight operations till May 31.
