Two headmasters in Peshawar suspended for assembling students

PESHAWAR: Peshawar district education officer Irfan Ali on Monday suspended two headmasters for assembling the students at the schools to award them annual examination results.

The suspended persons included headmasters of government primary school No 3, Hazar Khawani, and government primary school, Garhi Qamar Din, according to a notification.

The education officer has also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Both the headmasters had asked the students to visit the school and get their results.

Mr Ali told Dawn that the education department had directed the headmasters of the government schools to ensure social-distancing while awarding the result cards and books to students.

Despite clear directives, he said, the two headmasters had gathered the students at the schools, leading to their suspension.
