From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1945: Seventy-five years ago: Mr Jinnah’s indisposition

NEW DELHI: Mr. M.A. Jinnah has issued the following statement to the Press: - “I am extremely thankful to all those who made kind enquiries and showed deep concern about my health during my recent indisposition. My only excuse for not writing to them all personally is that they are so numerous that it is physically impossible to do so and I hope I shall be excused for expressing my gratitude to them through the courtesy of the Press for their anxiety and sympathy for me during my recent illness.

…I have had during the course of the last year more than one breakdown owing to nothing else but overwork and great pressure and anxiety in the discharge of my duties and responsibilities as the President of the All-India Muslim League Organisation...

But this last breakdown was the severest and a grave warning of nature, and I am strictly advised by my doctors… to have complete rest for at least the next three months. As there are various rumours of all sorts about my health, let me assure you all that there is nothing organically wrong with me nor do I suffer from any complaint, malady or disease of any kind…
