PML-N leader Saranjam Khan passes away

MARDAN: Former senator and central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Saranjam Khan, passed away after a prolonged illness here on Thursday. He was 88.

He was survived by a son Tariq Khan and three daughters. Saranjam Khan breathed his last at a private hospital in Islamabad where he was admitted after suffering severe breathing problem.

PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam, former chief minister Pir Sabir Shah, political figures and area elites attended the funeral prayers held at a mosque located near the deceased’s ancestral graveyard.

Saranjam Khan was elected as senator on PML-N ticket in 1997/1998. He had also contested elections on a provincial assembly seat, but lost. He was considered a trusted leader within PML-N and confidante of Nawaz Sharif. He had also served as central secretary general of the party.

Saranjam Khan had fully supported wife of Nawaz Sharif and his other family members at the time of his exile from country in 1999.
