Liquor claims six lives in Okara

OKARA: Six people died from the overdose of alcohol in Christian Colony and its neighboring localities on Thursday.

In Old and New Christian localities, Allah Ditta Masih, Yasir Masih (sweeper in the Population Welfare Department), Nattha Masih (municipal corporation employee) and Haroon Masih took liquor on Wednesday night and died on Thursday morning from heavy consumption of liquor.

Similarly, Riaz, of Basti Boharwali, and Ali Shah, health department employee and a resident of the Hospital Colony, also died from liquor consumption.

BODY FOUND: A man was found dead in suburbs of village 33/2L on Thursday.

The Shahbore police were alerted about the presence of the body which was later identified as that of Mansha, of village 33/2L.

The Shahbore police collected forensic proof from the site and shifted the body to the Okara District Headquarters City Hospital for autopsy.

FLAG MARCH: The personnel of law enforcing agencies had a flag march on city roads on Thursday.

District Police Officer Umer Saeed Malik led the flag march, which was participated in by Elite Force, traffic police and army jawans.

The DPO appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcers for the effective implementation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedures.
