LAHORE: The Punjab government on Wednesday transferred Higher Education Department Secretary Sajid Zaffar Dall and appointed him as the Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner.

He is the 14th HED secretary replaced during the last three years. The present PTI government did not appoint any permanent HED secretary as it gave additional charge to different officials.

According to a notification, Mr Dall was relieved from the post of HED additional secretary and posted as the D G Khan commissioner, relieving Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq of the additional charge of the commissioner’s post.

The government also has given additional charge of secretary HED to Punjab Labour and Human Resource Management Secretary Sarah Aslam till the posting of a regular incumbent.

A senior official told Dawn that the government was not focusing on regular postings with tenure security of three years but was giving additional charge and posting officers on pick and chose basis.

He said government should ensure tenure policy to allow officers to implement its policies as the frequent rotation was affecting the performance of the department.

He said there were several new policies that could not be implemented fully due to ad hoc arrangement.
