Karachiites brave warm day

KARACHI: The city experienced the warmest day of the year so far on Friday at the beginning of summer season when the mercury touched 38 degree Celsius and the Met office saw the trend continuing for at least a week or so.

Apart from high temperature, the day remained mostly dry due to low level of humidity — content of moisture in the air — which was recorded at 26 per cent.

A senior official at the Met office said that April usually recorded maximum temperature ranging between 33 and 35 degree Celsius, but Friday’s weather was unusual, considering the past trends.

“But the temperature may drop by two to three degrees in the next few days,” said Met director Sardar Sarfaraz Ahmed. “There can be a mild wave of heat with temperature shuffling between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius for the next week or so. We see mostly dry weather with humidity at lower side, but temperature would definitely go down in the evenings and nights.” The Met office predicted warm and dry weather across the province for the next week with humidity level ranging between 22 and 26pc.
