Shangla students oppose online classes

SHANGLA: The students of various universities here have opposed online lectures and classes, saying they could not avail of such opportunities as there is no internet facility in many areas of Shangla district.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, they said that their universities asked them for online study and had created Whatsapp groups besides sending links for different subjects to study, but they could not access anything due to lack of internet.

Rashid Ahmed, a BS student at the University of Swat, said that that there was no internet facility in his area and as such it was impossible for him to study online.

“Even in areas of Shangla where internet is available it is very slow and can’t be trusted. The university is asking for YouTube sessions and PDF assignments which I tried, but could not download due to poor internet speed,” the student said.

Another student Imran Khan said he was not in favour of Higher Education Commission’s decision of imparting education to the students online because he won’t be able to study at home.
