President Alvi reviews arrangements at quarantine centre in Taxila

TAXILA: President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi during his visit to a quarantine centre in Taxila, reviewed arrangements made by the district administration and health authorities in case of a health emergency.

He visited the control room and quarantine centre established at University of Technology (UET) Taxila, accompanied by the First Lady Begum Samina Alvi.

District administration officials gave a briefing to Mr Alvi and informed him that the facility could accommodate 600 patients and all the required steps had been taken for proper care and treatment of patients.

They said the facility could be upgraded to three tiers in case of an emergency, keeping in view the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the district.

Medical staff deputed at the quarantine centre has also been provided with personal protective equipment (PPE), they added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Alvi expressed his satisfaction over the available health facilities at the centre and said that effective care must be provided to infected people.

During the president’s visit, precautionary measures like social distancing were strictly observed.
