50 travelling in container shifted to isolation centre

CHINIOT: A many as 50 people were on Monday shifted to an isolation centre for medical examination after they were held for travelling in a container.

On Sunday, 15 others had been quarantined and of them 13 were tested negative for coronavirus and two results are awaited, said ADR (Revenue) Tariq Niazi.

He said police stopped a container on suspicion and found 50 people in it. [Trailer] driver Saifullah told police that they were labourers belonging to Swat and were going to Layyah district to earn their livelihood by working there. He said owing to closure of public transport and railways, they were forced to travel on container.

The police have shifted all the people and the driver to Chenab College in outskirts of the city which is designated as an isolation centre to keep suspected coronavirus patients.

A medical team is examining them.
