Khursheed Shah’s co-accused granted bail

SUKKUR: Sindh High Court’s newly formed bench at Sukkur comprising Justice Amjad Ali Sahito and Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi on Thursday granted bail to one of the 17 co-accused in Rs1.4 billion corruption reference filed against them, including former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Mr Shah’s lead counsel Raza Rabbani could not appear in court due to a lockdown in the country but a defence lawyer Advocate Qurban Malano, representing Raheem Bakhsh Awan, one of the 17 co-accused, produced some documents to seek bail for his client.

Advocate Malano in his arguments submitted in court that his client was a businessman but was being dragged into the matter on political grounds.

The court granted bail to Raheem Bakhsh Awan and adjourned the hearing till April 1.
