Concurrently with the move, Viscount Gort, the discard of the British Army now in Jerusalem as High Commissioner, had passed an order of “triple rotation” that has provoked the people of the country into holding a strike. It is high time that Britain made up her mind about the extent of applying the Balfour Declaration… Anyone with first-hand knowledge of Arab politics realises that Arab rights in Palestine are much older than the Mandate engineered at a time of political opportunism by Mr. Lloyd George…

The effort to people Palestine with Jews embarked from abroad involves an affront to the people of the country who under the pressure of alien wealth are being squeezed out of their rights. The Arabs are under no obligation to recognise the so-called covenant with the Deity in the remote past, and if it came to a dateline for the population, the history of Palestine would show earlier dwellers… [I]t is a criminal course for Great Britain in the name of the Mandate to manufacture Zionism at the expense of the Arab people who merely want to be left alone…
