Another 757 pilgrims shifted to quarantine camp in Sukkur

SUKKUR: Another 757 pilgrims were shifted from Pak-Iran border Taftan to the isolation camp for coronavirus in Labour Colony here on Wednesday, swelling the number of quarantined inmates to 1050.

According to district administration, the new arrivals underwent screening and different medical tests for coronavirus.

Earlier 293 pilgrims were kept in the quarantine centre out of whom 143 had symptoms similar to those of coronavirus.

Show-case notice issued to absentees

District Health Officer Dr Munir Ahmed Mangrio has issued show-cause notices to 27 midwives, nurses, dispensers and other paramedical staffers for being absent from duties at the solation camp.

The notice asked them to provide reasons for their absence from work during health emergency imposed in the province and directed them to submit reply within 14 days.

Markets closed

Sukkur Commissioner Shafiq Ahmed Mahaisar issued directives to close for 14 days restaurants, shopping centres and all kinds of markets including electronics, auto-parts, cloth, iron, furniture and restaurants set up in hotels, social clubs, public clubs, entertainment parks, swimming pools and tea hotels.

Only grocery shops, medicines stores, super markets, fruit and vegetable, meat and milk shops and general stores would remain open in the division.
