Body with torture, burn marks found in Manghopir

KARACHI: A man was found dead in the Manghopir area on Saturday evening.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that the body of a man in his mid-30s was found in bushes in the Khairabad area. The body bore torture marks. It was also torched, said the spokesperson.

Manghopir police officer Rana Shaukat said that there were signs that the body was dragged from somewhere else, which led to the detention of a man identified as Anjum Ferozuddin. He told the police that he had gone to his native place in Punjab and when he returned here on Saturday at around 3pm, he found the body lying in the courtyard of his home. He admitted that he dragged the body and left it at a nearby empty plot. The held person claimed that he did not know the victim.

The police were investigating the case. The officer said that the body was around four to five days old and the cause of the death could not be ascertained immediately.

It was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil legal formalities and ascertain his identity.

Body found in nullah

The body of a man was found floating in a storm-water drain in FB Area on Saturday morning.

The Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that the body of the man in his mid-30s was found in the drain near Shafiq Mor. The body was stated to be around two days old. It was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities and identification of the deceased.

A rescue worker said he believed that the victim had drowned.

Two persons wounded over plot dispute

Two men were shot at and wounded over a plot dispute in Korangi’s Bengali Para on Saturday evening, Zaman Town police said.

They added that a clash erupted between two groups over a piece of land in Sector F1/48 near Ibrahim Hyderi.

They attacked each other with guns. As a result two persons were wounded.

The wounded were identified as Zameer Sultan, 20, and Deen Mohammed, 28. The wounded persons were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, where doctors termed their condition out of danger.

A hospital official said that Zameer had sustained bullet wounds in his shoulder.

The police said that further investigation was going on.

Man commits suicide

A 30-year-old man committed suicide in Saadi Town near Malir Cantt on Saturday evening.

The Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that Abdullah drank some stuff inside his home located in Block-4 of the locality and died. The motive for the act could not be ascertained immediately.

The body was shifted to the JPMC to fulfil legal formalities.
