From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1945: Seventy-five years ago: Differences resolved

KARACHI: It is understood that the two sections in the Muslim League Party have [resolved] their differences and accepted the leadership of Sir Ghulam Hussein Hidayatullah on the following terms: To set up a working committee of ten members of the ministerial party to formulate and supervise the policy and programme of the new government; the Syed group to have two of its nominees on the ministry; Syed Muhammad Ali Shah to replace Khan Bahadur Haji Moulabux; and expansion of the ministry after a month so as to appoint another nominee of the Syed group.

To gain the support of Congress members to the Hidayatullah Ministry it is said that the Premier has further agreed to release Congressmen in Sind. The party claims to have the support of 24 Muslims…

[Meanwhile, as reported from Muttra,] The “Almighty Dollar” has gate-crashed into Hindu temples in Brindaban, reports the “Pioneer” correspondent. Entry into these temples has for centuries been denied to all except caste Hindus. The ban has now been lifted by certain ‘pujaris’ in favour of American soldiers with a long purse. They are allowed a ‘darshan’ of the deities provided they pay for admission. The rates at present range from Rs.5 to Rs.10.
