Man gets death sentence for killing three policemen

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday awarded an accused six time death penalty and 74 years imprisonment.

The accused was involved in killing three police officials.

In addition to the death sentence, the accused has to pay Rs500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of each of the deceased.

Abdul Qadeer, 25, a resident of Sadiqabad was arrested by police for being involved in the murder of three police officials identified as Inspector Mohammad Akram, Zafran and Mohammad Sajid Mehmood at a police checkpoint in 2019.

After investigation was launched into the case, Abdul Qadeer was arrested by the police on charges of murder and terrorism.

The ATC judge on Monday announced the verdict.

According to the verdict, in case of default in payment of compensation, the convict shall further undergo six months imprisonment.

The ATC court also directed the convict to pay Rs250,000 as compensation to each of the injured and in case of default the convict shall undergo six months imprisonment.

Under 7-Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), property of the convict was also forfeited.
