PMA journal

AS it is there are very few bright stars in our academic firmament and they too are being eclipsed by people who want to see the sky darker.

The Journal of the Pakistan Medical Association is one such bright star. The JPMA has maintained excellent and strict standards of research-based papers which it publishes on a regular basis. It has very stringent criteria for the publication of dissertations. That is why it was indexed in Index Medicus way back in 1975. Index Medicus is the indexing agency of the highest repute worldwide.

As a matter of fact it is a matter of pride for Pakistan that the JPMA is recognised internationally. Two brilliant academics, the late Dr Sarwar Jahan Zuberi and Dr Fatema Jawad, have devoted their lives to the Journal seeing to it that the highest standards of medical journalism are maintained.

Recently some quarters have tried to degrade the Journal. This ignorant and callous step will only demoralise the younger talent who try hard to get their research material published in such a reputable magazine. The Pakistan Medical Association and the entire medical fraternity are justifiably upset at such a move and expect that it will be reversed at the earliest.
