Prime suspect in customs officials’ murder case held

KOHAT: The Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested the main suspect in the 2015 murder case of four customs officials and a robbery at a CNG station.

He carried head money of Rs1.5 million. The suspected murderer was shifted to an unknown location for interrogation.

The government had also fixed head money of Re1 million each for four other accomplices of the main suspect, who had also been arrested earlier.

It may be recalled that five armed men had come from an adjoining area of Jawaki Banda led by Ismail, and after looting a CNG filling station located on the Hangu Road, had shot dead four customs officials who were on duty during the night in February 2015.

They had also taken away weapons of the customs officials and watchman of the CNG station.

The city police had registered one case on Feb 4, 2015, under sections 324, 404, 353, 394, 427, 148,149, and 7 ATA. Another case was filed on Feb 5, 2015, under different sections against the five suspects.

The police had arrested one of the suspects, Wajid, during an operation, while others Hamid, Sajid, Nabeel and Ismail had been declared absconders by the court.

The prime suspect, Ismail, was held from Muhammadzai area in an intelligence-based raid.
