Families of ‘missing’ persons hold protest in Clifton

KARACHI: A protest was held against enforced disappearances at Do Talwar in Clifton on Friday, according to officials and witnesses.

A large number of children and women carried portraits of their near and dear ones and urged the authorities to safely recover them.

The children started the protest by singing the national anthem.

The speakers demanded all ‘missing’ Shia persons should be presented before the courts so that they could defend themselves.

They observed that the families of missing persons were facing immense economic difficulties to the extent that even their children could not continue their studies.

Representatives of Joint Action Committee of Shia Missing Persons said that since the last three years, they have been protesting and it was the responsibility of the government and powerful institutions to provide justice to their families.
