Livestock vaccination starts in Shangla

SHANGLA: The livestock department has started two-month livestock vaccination and treatment campaign in the district.

The inaugural ceremony of the campaign was held in Alpuri here on Thursday, which was attended by project director Dr Ahmad Kamal, district director Dr Hazrat Hadi, monitoring officer Dr Shaukat Hayat, field staff and farmers.

On this occasion, Dr Kamal stressed the importance of vaccination and proper treatment of the livestock. Dr Shaukat, said the campaign would continue till April 20 during which vaccination, deworming and treatment services would be provided for the large and small animals in all union councils of the district.

Dr Hadi said that all the available resources were being utilised to make the drive a success. The livestock department also gave away medicines and awareness material to the farmers.

Meanwhile, assistant commissioner, Bisham, Khuram Rehman sealed a clinical laboratory for conducting tests by unqualified technicians. During a raid, he also asked the owners to ensure proper cleanliness in the labs and conduct the tests by expert technicians.

VOLUNTEER FORCE: The district administration in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society launched a volunteer task force here on Thursday.

About 100 youth were earlier selected for the force from 28 union councils of the district in this regard. The launching ceremony of the task force was held at government polytechnic college, Alpuri, here on Thursday where deputy commissioner Imran Hussain was chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by Alpuri AC Wajid Ali, secretary PRCS Jamal Hasnain and selected volunteers.
