Plea against drama dismissed

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking a ban on exhibition of “Ehd-i-Wafa”, a television drama produced by ISPR.

Justice Shahid Waheed observed that the petition was not maintainable and directed the petitioner to first approach the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra).

Responding to the judge’s queries, Muhammad Zeeshan, the petitioner, said his feelings were hurt when he watched the drama showing all pillars of the state except the judiciary.

Moreover, he said the drama glorified the role of army only and negatively portrayed politicians and media persons which, he claimed, was an attempt to tarnish their image.

He further said the roles being portrayed in the drama painted a negative image of Pakistan internationally.

He urged the court to stop broadcasting of remaining episodes of the drama and also take action against the television channel.
