TIMERGARA: The Munda tehsil municipal administration on Monday launched an operation to remove billboards installed along the roadsides illegally.

The operation was launched on the directives of commissioner Malakand division and Lower deputy commissioner Saadat Hassan.

A total of 21 billboards of different sizes, party flags and signboards of development projects were removed.

Lauding the move against the billboards the locals said these were posing a risk to human lives.

Also in the day, assistant commissioner, Timergara, Shah Jamil Khan implemented the new traffic plan and declared all the roads as one-way to ensure smooth flow of traffic near the district headquarters hospital.

He also visited nanbais and checked the weight of bread and booked the violators. Talking to journalists and traders, he said sufficient quantity of subsidised flour was available in the markets of Timergara city.

ALLOWANCES SOUGHT: All government drivers’ association, Lower Dir, on Monday demanded the announcement of risk and utility allowances and time-scale promotion.

They made the demand during a demonstration held outside the Timergara Press Club.

On the occasion, the protesters’ leaders said the government had announced various special allowances for its employees, but the drivers had been ignored.

They said the Lower Dir deputy commissioner had issued a seniority list of drivers working in the district administration, but other departments were yet to follow the suit. The drivers complained of being treated unfairly.
