1,900 kites seized
TAXILA: During a crackdown on kite sellers, police on Monday seized 1,900 kites and 13 rolls of metallic strings.
A police team headed by Wah Saddar police SHO Sub Inspector Mohammad Rafeeq participated in the operation during which one shopkeeper involved in selling kites was arrested and seized more than 700 kites and hundreds of meters of metallic string.
Police shifted the kites and string to police station and registered a case against the dealer.
In another operation, Taxila police SHO Inspector Mian Afzal Shah arrested two dealers and seized 1,200 kites and strings.
“Yes, we have raided a warehouse on secret information where the owner, had kept kites and twines,” said SP Potohar division Syed Ali. According to Mr Ali, the owner of the warehouse used to sell the kites and string to shopkeepers in various parts of Taxila and Wah.
The provincial government has banned kites flying as it often results into loss of precious lives and injuries to many others besides disrupting power supply and flow of traffic.
