Of Citizens’ Portal

APROPOS the letter ‘Of Citizens’ Portal’ (Feb 3). I fully endorse the writer’s views as I have had an experience similar to him.

Six months ago, I complained on this portal against the mukhtarkar of Jhuddo. This complaint was forwarded to the deputy commissioner of Mirpurkhas and passing through proper channel from one official to another, reached the table of the official against whom I had complained. The reader can well imagine the fate of the complaint.

Thereafter I have been at the receiving end of the ire of the entire team of officials from the deputy commissioner, additional deputy commissioner-I, assistant commissioner of Jhuddo and mukhtarkar of Jhuddo to city surveyor who have all ganged up to create problems for me.

Having no other recourse, I approached provincial ombudsman’s office and my grievance has still not been addressed. Finally, I have lodged a complaint with the Sindh chief secretary’s complaint cell where the matter is pending.

I appeal to the prime minister to ensure that the citizen’s portal carries out the function for which it was set up.

THIS refers to the letter ‘Citizens’ Portal’ (Jan 30). I agree with the writer and would like add that I too have filed a number of complaints regarding the unsatisfactory road network in Punjab, especially the poor state of link roads leading to/away from motorway M2.

These roads are in Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions. All my complaints were closed after assuring me that the work would be undertaken. However, no work has started, or poor quality work was done.

I am disappointed with the portal’s inefficiency. Its accomplishments claimed by the government are just an eyewash.
